Summer is almost over and fading quickly. Parents are scrambling to fit in plenty of summer fun and children are dreading the return to school and the end of days when they can sleep until noon and stay up until midnight.
For this year’s batch of college freshman, however, August holds a world of new experiences, especially for those who will be living away from home for the first time. The first year in college is a mixture of exciting and frightening, but usually turns out to be a great experience for the majority of students.
If you’re hoping to send that new college student off to school with something special to help his/her remember you while they’re away, consider rewarding them with a hand-picked personalized gift. A personalized gift shows them that you’ve picked a present specifically for them and it never hurts to have items with a name on them, just in case they get lost!
Personalized travel gear is always a good bet for college students. Totes, duffel bags, garment bags, and overnight cases come in handy when its time to move and can be used for weekend jaunts back home.
Or how about a personalized frame for his/her desk, ideal for displaying a picture of family members or special friends back home. Personalized desk accessories are a great choice as well, including items such as pen and pencil sets, desk caddies, charging stations, and calculators.
For a more personal touch, give her a personalized locket or bracelet and reward him with cuff links, personalized dog tags, or a handsome money clip
0 CommentsEveryone expects gifts from their true love on Valentine’s Day, but how about surprising them with a similar gift when they least expect it? It’s time to celebrate a new holiday this August 14 - Halfway-to-Valentine’s Day!
Truly, everyone enjoys nice gifts, especially when they’re unexpected. And what better way to say “I love you” then with a special item chosen especially for your loved one. Personalized gifts are ideal for occasions like this and can include items from a number of different categories, from very romantic gifts to something more practical for those significant others who are more, well…practical.
If it’s jewelry she loves, consider a personalized locket or bracelet featuring an engraved heart. There are also plenty of jewelry items for him as well, including fashionable I.D. bracelets, dog tags, and shiny cuff links.
Perhaps a travel-related gift would be appropriate, such as a garment or duffel bag or even a small tote. Top off this personalized gift with the ultimate surprise – a vacation trip to one of his or her favorite locations, like the beach, mountains, or even someplace more exotic.
Other gifts appropriate for Halfway-to-Valentine’s Day include attractive trinket or jewelry boxes, personalized photo frames for that special picture of the two of you, mugs or glassware, and handsome wine accessories.
Be the first among your friends to celebrate this unique new holiday. You’re guaranteed to make that special one in your life happy until the real Valentine’s Day rolls around again.
0 CommentsA multi-function tool that has a million and one uses, the Swiss Army Knife is constantly being copied, but the real thing was actually invented in 1891 by a gentleman named Karl Eisner. Eisner aimed to develop a multi-use tool that was not made by the Germans, designed to be useful to members of the Swiss Army.
The tool was first known as “The Soldier’s Knife” and included a wooden handle and a variety of other tools that would be useful to members of the military, including not only a knife but also a can opener and a corkscrew. The premiere manufacturers of the tool have also been Victorinox and Wenger.
Though the members of the Swiss Army were not the only ones that used the tool, its beginnings resulted in it being forever called the Swiss Army Knife. However, manufacturers who make similar items often call them simply “army knives” or “multi-function knives.” These days the handle is usually aluminum instead of the traditional wood and may include two blades instead of just one as well as a variety of other useful items, including tweezers, screw drivers, scissors, a leather punch, and more.
Today, this handy gadget has become a popular groomsmen’s gift and can be personalized with the name of the attendant and the date of the wedding. These knives/tools are especially handy for those who go camping or work outdoors but will certainly be appreciated by anyone who enjoys a good gadget with a variety of uses.
0 CommentsMost of today’s Christian wedding services or masses include the opportunity for the bride and groom to light a unity candle, symbolizing the joining of two lives into one. This tradition has become a special moment during the ceremony, a time when the couple truly realizes how much they will now depend on one another as they travel through their lifetime.
Anniversary couples who are renewing their vows for a special landmark anniversary can experience that moment once again through the use of a similar item known simply as an “anniversary candle.” Looking much like the unity candle, a personalized anniversary candle can be used during a ceremony or even lit during a party if no religious ceremony is held.
The anniversary candle bears the name of the couple, the date of their wedding, and the anniversary year; i.e. 25th or 50th. Most anniversary candles also include some sort of graphic, such as a couple dancing, a heart, or another picture. Like unity candles used for weddings, anniversary candles often include one large candle and two smaller ones. Holders are sometimes part of the package but may be purchased separately in some cases. They are usually available in silver or gold.
These personalized candles add a wonderful touch to any ceremony and remind the couple and their guests just how much of a stake they have in each other’s lives and how – through the years – their lives have truly melded into one.
0 CommentsDoes it seem as if you can never come up with new and different ideas when it comes to birthday gifts for family and friends? Creative gift-giving can be quite difficult, especially after years of getting stuck in the same old rut – a tie for Dad, flowers for Mom, gift cards for your friends and siblings, and more of the same-old same-old.
Birthday gift-giving doesn’t have to be boring for the giver or the receiver. Today, with a wealth of personalized options available, you can find plenty of unique presents for those special people in your life.
If it’s a female-oriented present you seek, browse the ever-growing collection of personalized gifts for women. These include items such as jewelry, including I.D. bracelets, lockets, and more; travel gear like duffel bags and totes in many designs; office or desk accessories for the business woman; and much more.
For the man in your life, consider such birthday goodies as sports paraphernalia; cigar accessories including humidors; wine-related gifts like cork screws or personalized boxes; or perhaps a piece of masculine jewelry, like dog tags or identification bracelets bearing the name or initials of the recipient.
The nicest thing about personalized birthday gifts is the ability to make them specific to the recipient. By including a name or date or even a special one-line sentiment, the birthday man or woman knows the gift was designed and chosen especially for them.
0 CommentsEveryone has at least one family member who is a sports nut. Perhaps it’s your dad or uncle. Maybe it’s grandpa. And, of course, it may not be a male member of the family at all. It may be Mom or your younger sister!
Regardless of gender, sports lovers can be real fanatics when it comes to their favorite active pastime. They spend as much time as possible on the football field, watching the baseball game on TV, or following their favorite sport in person whenever possible.
There are lots of opportunities to honor that sports lover, including at birthdays, graduations, Father’s or Mother’s Day, or retirement. Sports-oriented gifts are an ideal choice for these sports-minded individuals and many such items are available with personalization to add that extra special touch.
If you know someone that participates in sports or goes to “the game” often, consider such personalized gifts as a soft-sided cooler for game time or after-game beverages or a handy party tub for those post-game parties. If your sports fan is a collector, he/she might be delighted with a personalized baseball or bat. Or perhaps he might like an NFL-themed item, like a flask or a football-themed Zippo lighter. For something a bit different, choose a pub-style sign that touts his/her favorite sport, like fishing, hunting, or golf.
Whichever you choose, remember to add personalization whenever possible, including name or initials of the recipient and date of any special event. In some cases, you can even add a short sentiment that he/she will treasure for years.
0 CommentsThere’s nothing sadder than celebrating a special event without a much loved family member or friend. But it happens to all of us. Weddings are held without Grandma or Grandpa or, sadly, without Mom or Dad. It’s natural to feel sad about missing that special person, but it is possible to do a little something to keep their memory alive as you go through that special day.
Certainly, you can include photos or other memorabilia connected to the deceased as part of the festivities. In addition, however, companies that carry personalized items usually offer for purchase “memorial” vases, “memorial” candles or other products that pay tribute to special people who have passed on before the event but whose lives had a significant impact on the bride and groom or other individual celebrating a special day.
These memorial vases usually bear a line from Scripture or a verse from an appropriate poem. In addition, the name of the person being memorialized and the dates of their life (birth-death) can be included as well. The vase may be placed wherever it is deemed appropriate. For example, it may sit on the altar during a wedding ceremony or near the guest book or wedding cake at a reception. The bride and groom can determine the best placement.
Regardless of where the personalized memorial item is placed, however, it will be a significant reminder of a much-loved person (or people) in the life of those whose special day has arrived.
0 CommentsWhile it’s true that June is the wedding month, that very fact – of course – also makes it the anniversary month! All those June brides and grooms are now celebrating the memory of their big day years later, whether the wedding was last year or 50 years ago.
With the American divorce rate being what it is today (only about one in two marriages survive), anniversaries are truly a momentous occasion, especially the landmark ones, like 25 and 50. That’s why it’s so important to mark them with a special gift.
If you’ve been invited to an anniversary party, you’ll want to take some time to think about the perfect gift for the couple that is being honored. Consider their personalities, their likes and dislikes, their hobbies, and other things about them before you choose their present. You’ll also want to consider a personalized gift that honors them in a special way by including their names and the date of their anniversary on the gift itself.
If they have the travel bug and are headed on a wonderful anniversary trip, purchase some personalized travel gear for their use, including tote bags, Dopp kits, or other handy items.
Are they wine connoisseurs? If so, choose a set of beautiful personalized wine glasses, a bottle of excellent wine and a classy personalized gift box, or a handy corkscrew or accessory set.
Of course, jewelry is always a good bet, especially for the bride. However, you might also consider a customized anniversary photo frame that could highlight photos of a special anniversary party or trip.
Whichever you choose, remember that personalizing an item always lets the recipient know that you took extra time from your busy schedule to select a gift just for them.
0 CommentsGolfing has always been a favorite sport to both watch and play. Once reserved for the upper class, it is now an active pursuit enjoyed by all, regardless of one’s job or salary. True, golfing can be an expensive pastime, but public courses make the sport affordable to all.
If you have a golfer in your life, you know that he or she can sometimes seem obsessed by the game. That person seems to live and breathe golf – watching it on TV, following the statistics in the newspaper, and hitting the links whenever possible. So why not reward that person on their birthday or other special day with a gift that they can use when they play their favorite sport?
Personalized gifts for golfers are a great way to tell that person how much you support their hobby. All sorts of golf items can be personalized and these personalized products are available for a wide variety of budgets. Looking for something that doesn’t cost a lot? Then consider a unique personalized golf towel he or she can hang on their bag. Usually available in a variety of colors, this towel is always handy, especially in hot and humid weather.
Of course, you can never have enough golf balls, so how about rewarding your golfer with a few dozen personalized ones, emblazoned with his or her name? Or for a great executive gift, consider a custom putter set in a handsome case that includes the name of the recipient.
For a golf-oriented gift useful off the course, choose a golf-themed humidor for the cigar smoker or a classy personalized shadow box that your golfing fanatic can use to display his/her golfing artifacts/awards.
0 CommentsIt’s easy for a bride to choose gifts for her bridesmaids. Jewelry is a common choice, like necklaces or bracelets, as are personalized tote bags and other similar items that can be engraved or embroidered with the recipient’s name. But what does a groom get for his groomsmen?
Just as with the female half of the bridal party, groomsmen enjoy unique personalized gifts as well, and these days, there are plenty of masculine choices available. If your groomsmen are sportsmen, they might enjoy a sports-related gift set or perhaps a personalized Swiss Army knife for that next fishing or hunting trip.
If they enjoy knocking back a beer or two, choose personalized glassware or a unique beer stein featuring their name and the date of the big day. Flasks also make a neat gift, no matter what they decide to carry inside. Flasks are available in a variety of styles, from traditional to contemporary and can be easily engraved.
Or how about a handy everyday item, like a key chain, money clip, business card holder, or wallet. Desk accessories are always a good bet as well, including personalized calculators, desk caddies, pen and pencil sets, and more.
If your groomsmen travel a lot, you may want to consider travel gear like dopp kits, garment bags, or overnight bags. All can be personalized with name or initials.
